The Properties and Events department manages partnerships with Soccer United Marketing (“SUM”) Properties (U.S. Soccer, Federation Mexicana de Futbol, CONCACAF, Liga MX, eSports and others) and oversees the development, planning and execution of Major League Soccer (“MLS”) and SUM events and platforms in North America each year, including marquee events like MLS All-Star, CONCACAF Gold Cup, MLS Cup, the Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, MLS Rivalry Week, MLS Decision Day, and U.S. Soccer Federation programming. The group also spearheads organization-wide initiatives, including hospitality/B2B programming, press/media events, department/ executive meetings, competition events and the development of new platforms/partnerships for the enterprise.

MLS and SUM are continually looking for new channels to serve and grow our fan base. eSports and gaming are an exciting avenue for MLS and SUM to achieve these goals. Candidates applying for this position should have an understanding of the gaming space and a passion to grow the sport of soccer through this rich engagement channel.


  • Facilitate the launch of MLS eSports and gaming initiatives
  • Manage execution of MLS eSports and gaming programming components, including live events, content, sponsorships, etc.
  • Advise and assist Clubs in developing and executing eSports and gaming strategies
  • Serve as a core stakeholder between departments integrated into MLS eSports and gaming strategies (e.g., Content, Digital, Social, Business Development, Partnership Marketing, Brand, Integrated Marketing, Events)
  • Analyze new opportunities in the gaming marketplace for MLS and additional SUM properties to gain relevance via eSports and gaming
  • Manage external relationships with key external stakeholders, including but not limited to:
  • Production agencies
  • Media partners
  • eSports Athletes
  • Integrate gaming into additional MLS and SUM programming priorities
  • Serve as a key stakeholder on new, additional platform projects that reach beyond the traditional sports space
  • Support the development of MLS Big Events
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-8+ years of experience in sports and/or eSports/gaming marketing
  • Solid understanding and experience in the the eSports and gaming space
  • Outstanding communication skills are essential for interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated skills across presentation development, project management, and opportunity research
  • Superior organization skills and attention to detail
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
