The second edition of the Geneva Gaming Convention (GGC) arrives at the Palexpo center from the 22th to the 24th of september 2017. More than 15’000 people, 80 exhibitors and 500 athletes are expected for a total immersion in the gaming universe.
Driving drones? Travelling back in the past at our Retro Gaming area? Trying out archery in virtual reality? Attending conferences about gaming in society?
GGC wants to offer a large variety of themes linked to Gaming: E-sport, video games from major publishers, indie games, artistic creations, medical uses of video games as well as introduction to trainings and education courses in this field.
In total, more than 60 hours of activities are offered to entertain the pro-gamers and seduce the neophytes throughout this family-friendly convention.
A gaming competition (LAN) will be organised during the whole weekend on Overwatch, Counter Strike GO, Hearthstone, League of Legends and Rocket League.
The best teams will win more than 33’000 CHF of cash prize and many special gifts.

Context The city of Geneva just recognised E-Sport as a sports discipline. A federation made of 12 local associations has joined sports institutions as a fully-fledged federation. Dozens of projects principally addressed to for the youth are being thought of by the public organs and gamers. A flagship project: The Geneva Gaming Convention The Genevan federation, as well as 16 other local associations (from Vaud, Tessin, neighbouring France), have built a Convention project in Geneva’s biggest congress center, Palexpo which is right by the airport. Many local operators such as Genève Tourisme and other Swiss foundations are supporting the project in its international development. The first “test” edition which took place in 2016 has welcomed 5 500 visitors. The second edition, in 2017 is aiming for a larger public of 15 000 visitors. The Geneva Gaming Convention is in the process of gathering partners and resources to submit a candidacy by the end of summer to the Ie-SF (International e-Sports Federation) to host the 10th edition of the World e-Sports Championship with a capacity from 40 000 to 80 000 visitors.
